For our first tip, we wanted to share with you a great set of ideas from Woman’s Day Magazine.

Orange Peels

Uses for Orange Peels

Tip #1 – Deodorize the Oven – To remove any lingering fish or meat smells after cooking, place a pan of orange peels inside your oven – set the temperature to 350 degrees and bake it for 15 – 20 minutes.  It will diminish the kitchen odor and leave you with a fresh citrus scent.

Tip #2 – Fight Stress – Leave your orange peels out to dry, and once totally dry, grind them in a food processor until they form a fine powder.  Sprinkle them in your bath for a calming effect and nice citrus scent.

Tip #3 – Shine Metal – Rub the inside of an orange peel on fixtures like your sink faucet or shower head.  The peel contains D-limonene (citrus oil), a compound that can remove other oils like grease and fingerprint residue and naturally buff metallic surfaces.

Tip #4 – Ward off Pesky Insects – Flies, fire ants, cockroaches and mosquitoes do not like the scent of orange oil.  Place a few pieces of orange peel in bowls in the corners of your home to help keep insects away.

Tip #5 – Whiten teeth – In a pinch, rub your teeth with the inside of an orange peel.  the D-limonene will temporarily brighten your teeth.

Did You Know?  The color orange was named after the fruit, not the other way around?
